Cookie policy
Updated 14 September 2026.
This policy explains cookies and similar storage on dundasbuildingsurveying.com, operated by Dundas Building Surveying Ltd. Our privacy policy explains how we handle personal information.
Your choice
Optional services are off when you first visit. “Reject all” keeps them off. “Accept all” allows the optional services currently listed in Cookie settings. “Manage choices” lets you choose each purpose separately. Scrolling, browsing or closing the settings panel does not give consent.
You can reopen Cookie settings from the footer on any public page and reject optional services at any time. We remember your choice for 180 days using a first-party cookie shared between the main and www versions of this website. Clearing that cookie or changing which services we use means we will ask again.
Rejecting optional cookies does not prevent you from reading the website, contacting us or requesting a quote. If JavaScript is disabled, optional services remain off.
Essential storage and security
These functions remember your privacy choice, protect forms from abuse and secure the staff portal. They are not used for advertising.
Cloudflare delivers and protects this website. Its Turnstile security check processes device and connection signals on forms to distinguish people from automated submissions. Cloudflare can also issue security cookies when it presents a challenge; the exact behaviour depends on the challenge and browser. No Cloudflare security cookie was observed in our fresh-browser checks on 14 September 2026. These checks are separate from optional analytics and videos.
Read Cloudflare’s Turnstile Privacy Addendum and Cloudflare’s cookie information.
Analytics
Google Analytics and the connected Google Ads tag run only after you allow both Analytics and Ad measurement. Allowing just one keeps Google measurement off. These services measure visits, form interactions and successful enquiry submissions. We do not send form contents, names, email addresses or telephone numbers in our analytics events. Portal pages are excluded.
Google Analytics can set the first-party cookies _ga and _ga_* to distinguish browsers and maintain session information. We configure these cookies to expire after 180 days without extending their expiry on every visit. Rejecting Analytics removes these cookies from our domain and refreshes the page to stop the loaded tracking code.
After a successful Bristol quote or contact submission, a first-party cookie called dundas_conversion_receipt confirms that the thank-you visit came from a submitted enquiry. It contains a random reference, the form page and a five-minute expiry, with no form contents. The confirmation page consumes it once, so direct visits and reloads do not create another conversion. It is set only with both measurement permissions. Google may also use local storage named _gcl_ls for ad-click measurement; withdrawing measurement permission clears this storage from our domain.
Ad measurement
Ad measurement is a separate choice. Our connected Google tag needs both Analytics and Ad measurement permission before either service can run. If you allow both, Google Analytics can share visit, ad-click and successful enquiry information with our linked Google Ads account to measure how ads perform. This includes Google ad-click identifiers in page addresses. We do not send form contents or use this permission for personalised advertising, remarketing or enhanced conversions using customer details.
Google may use first-party cookies beginning _gcl_ to retain ad-click information. Our Google tag sets these cookies with a 180-day expiry. Turning Ad measurement off clears these cookies from our domain, sends denied advertising consent signals and refreshes the page. Turning either measurement choice off stops both services and clears their first-party cookies. YouTube has its own separate choice.
Our Google Consent Mode v2 defaults deny analytics storage, advertising storage, advertising user data and ad personalisation. Analytics storage is allowed only with Analytics permission. Advertising storage and advertising user data are allowed only when you also choose Ad measurement; ad personalisation stays denied. We use basic consent handling, so neither Google Analytics nor Google Ads is loaded before both measurement permissions are given.
YouTube videos
Our About page offers an embedded YouTube video. The player is blocked until you allow YouTube videos in Cookie settings. We use YouTube’s privacy-enhanced player, but loading it still connects your browser to Google services and shares information such as your IP address, device and viewing activity. YouTube may store information on your device when you use the player.
YouTube controls its own third-party storage and retention. Details are available in Google’s cookie information and privacy policy. Turning videos off removes the embedded player. We cannot delete information already stored on another provider’s domain; use your browser’s site-data controls to remove it.
You can also follow the “Watch on YouTube instead” link. This opens YouTube as a separate website, where its own privacy choices apply.
Managing browser storage
Your browser can show, block or delete cookies and site data. Deleting the consent cookie resets your choice; deleting the portal cookie signs you out. Blocking essential storage may stop us remembering your choice or keeping you signed in. It does not authorise optional tracking.
